Project Scope:
Developed budget for three Aged Care facilities and 200 Home Care clients including Commonwealth Home Support Packages (CHSP), and including transitions from old charter of accounts to a new charter of accounts.
Organisation Profile:
Residential and Home Care provider in NSW with three facilities in metropolitan locations and over 200 Home Care clients. Annual turnover of approx. $29m and employing approx. 320 staff with a finance team of 5 people lead by a finance manager.
Process:

Held an initial planning workshop to engage Board in setting EBITDA target and identifying key KPIs.

Mapping historical data from old chart of accounts to new charter of accounts.

Workshop with management team to discuss operational targets such as ACFI, occupancy, rosters, staffing profiles, and other related KPI’s.

Development of budget workpapers based on key assumptions established during the workshops.

Implementations:
Presented budget and KPI dashboard to Board for approval. Assisted finance team to upload budget into their finance systems.
Outcomes:
The budget process was used by the organisation as a change management tool to engage Board and Managers in financial performance and ownership of the financial outcomes. The implementation of the KPI dashboard provided managers with the ability to analyse the key drivers behind their financial performance to quickly identify areas for improvement. The CEO reported an increase in financial performance in the 12 months following implementation due to managers and Board members knowledge and engagement increasing.
